Some causes resonate on a deeper level, and for our Founder, Jade, the Buddy Bag Foundation is one that holds a particularly special place in her heart.
The Buddy Bag Foundation supports children who find themselves in crisis situations, often having to leave home suddenly due to domestic abuse, neglect, trafficking, homelessness or other traumatic circumstances. Many arrive at a place of safety carrying little more than the clothes they are wearing.
This is where a Buddy Bag can make all the difference.
A Buddy Bag is a backpack filled with essential items and comfort gifts for a child in crisis. Each bag may include toiletries, pyjamas, underwear, socks, a book, a soft toy, stationery and other everyday essentials. While the contents may seem simple, they provide something incredibly important: comfort, dignity and the reassurance that someone cares.
For the past three years, Disrupt Talent has proudly supported the Buddy Bag Foundation as Buddy Bag Angels, making monthly donations to help the charity continue its life-changing work. What started with donations through our Christmas Present Round Up in our first year of business has grown into an ongoing commitment that we are incredibly proud of.
Today, alongside our monthly Buddy Bag Angel contribution, we work with our valued partners at Full Circle Events & Exhibitions and the NEC Group to donate a Buddy Bag for every placement we make. It means that every successful placement not only supports careers and businesses but also helps a child facing one of the most difficult moments of their life.
The Foundation itself continues to go from strength to strength. Founder Karen Williams recently shared exciting news following the move into a new fulfilment centre, generously donated by Cathedral Products. The new facility has enabled the charity to streamline its operations and increase the support it can provide. Since March 2025, the Foundation has expanded beyond Buddy Bags alone and now offers an even wider range of essential items to children in need.
At Disrupt Talent, supporting the Buddy Bag Foundation is about much more than making a donation. It's about creating positive change, supporting vulnerable children and being part of a community that believes every child deserves comfort, care and hope.
As Jade says, 'When you understand what these children have experienced and how something as simple as a backpack filled with essentials can provide comfort during such a frightening time, it's impossible not to want to help. It's a cause that means a great deal to me personally and one that I'm incredibly proud for Disrupt Talent to support.'
