AV Technician - Live Events
Salary: £26,000 - £34,000 (DOE)

Role Overview
We're looking for a reliable and motivated AV Technician to join a busy live events team. This role involves preparing, delivering and operating audio, lighting and video equipment for conferences, brand activations, exhibitions, awards shows and other live events. You'll work closely with project managers and fellow technicians to ensure every event is delivered smoothly, safely and to a high technical standard.

This role involves preparing, delivering and operating audio, lighting and video equipment for conferences, brand activations, exhibitions, awards shows and other live events. You'll work closely with project managers and fellow technicians to ensure every event is delivered smoothly, safely and to a high technical standard.
Key Responsibilities
Event Preparation & Warehouse Duties
- Prepare, test and maintain AV equipment including audio, lighting, video and staging
- Pick, pack and check equipment ahead of events
- Assist with equipment repairs, PAT testing and general warehouse upkeep
- Load and unload vans, ensuring safe handling of kit
- Support the build, operation and de-rig of live events
- Install and configure projectors, screens, PA systems, stage lighting, LED walls and related hardware
- Run cables, patch systems and troubleshoot technical issues during setup
- Operate equipment during live shows (e.g., audio desks, vision mixers, lighting consoles, playback) depending on experience
- Liaise with clients, venues and other event partners in a professional manner
- Follow all health & safety procedures and assist with risk assessments
- Provide clear and friendly technical support to clients and production teams
- Communicate any technical challenges or kit issues to senior staff
- Ensure equipment is returned, documented and stored correctly
- 1-3 years' experience in live events, AV, theatre tech or similar technical environment
- Strong practical knowledge of at least one AV discipline (audio, lighting or video), with willingness to learn others
- Ability to understand and follow technical plans, stage layouts and patch sheets
- Competent in rigging, lifting and safe working practices (formal qualifications beneficial)
- Comfortable working at height and with power tools (training can be provided)
- Strong problem-solving skills with a calm, proactive approach on site
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude when dealing with clients and venues
- Full UK driving licence desirable (van driving experience an advantage)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- A positive, team-focused attitude
- Reliability, punctuality and pride in high-quality work
- Ability to handle pressure and tight turnarounds
- Enthusiasm to develop new skills across multiple AV disciplines
- Ongoing training in audio, lighting, video and rigging
- Opportunities to work on a wide variety of live projects
- Overtime/TOIL depending on employer structure
- Progression into Senior Technician or Project Support roles
