Technical Production Manager
Location: Swindon
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Reports to: Head of Technical
Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a skilled Technical Production Manager to independently oversee all technical aspects of small and medium-sized events, and to support senior team members on larger-scale projects when required. The successful candidate will ensure that every event is delivered to the highest standard, with client expectations consistently met or exceeded.
They will also support colleagues across the Production Management team and provide guidance to junior technical production staff.

The successful candidate will ensure that every event is delivered to the highest standard, with client expectations consistently met or exceeded.
They will also support colleagues across the Production Management team and provide guidance to junior technical production staff.
Key Responsibilities Production Management
- Receive client briefs/enquiries and collaborate with the Project Management team to prepare quotes and proposals that position the business competitively.
- Once a project is confirmed, take full responsibility for coordinating all technical elements, liaising with clients, delegates, sponsors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Deliver each project in line with agreed budgets, including internal and external costs.
- Complete post-event financial reconciliations, ensuring all costs and income are accurately logged in Procim.
- Support the Project Management team during client debriefs as required.
- Follow company systems and processes as set out in the ISO9001 Quality Management System and ISO45001 Health & Safety Management System.
- Work with the Project Management team to ensure timelines are maintained throughout project delivery.
- Meet all internal and client deadlines.
- Ensure accuracy of quoting and provide clarity to the Project Management team regarding all technical requirements.
- Provide templates and guidance to the Studio team and troubleshoot queries when needed.
- Collaborate with the Warehouse team by booking equipment through Hiretrack, supplying relevant plans, and resolving operational queries.
- Prepare and distribute technical plans to all stakeholders, including CAD layouts, set schematics, rigging information, and health & safety documentation.
- Support preparation of virtual platform documentation, such as access information, agendas, and emergency contacts.
- Brief external stakeholders (e.g., speakers, award nominees), ensuring they understand their role and troubleshooting queries as required.
- Populate projects initiated by the Project Management team within the Procim system.
- Create and amend estimates/quotes for clients.
- Raise purchase orders in line with company purchasing policies.
- Log expenses and manage timesheets, ensuring accurate allocation of hours to tasks.
- Build and manage equipment lists using Hiretrack, booking items from stock and coordinating with the Warehouse team.
- Identify equipment shortfalls and cost-effective cross-hire solutions while maintaining budget alignment.
- Liaise with the Finance team to onboard new suppliers where needed.
- Follow company purchasing and expenses policies in all financial decisions.
- Negotiate with suppliers prior to order confirmation.
- Obtain three comparative quotes for purchases over £1,000 where possible.
- Raise and issue purchase orders to confirm orders.
- Notify Finance of any supplier contracts or terms requiring review.
- Carry out site visits according to client or project needs.
- Attend visits either independently or with a member of the Project Management team, taking accurate measurements and assessing technical requirements.
- Lead all technical production activities on-site, ensuring delivery to the highest standards.
- Maintain safe working practices and ensure compliance with Health & Safety measures.
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers, with Project Management support where appropriate.
- Support with setup of studios, meeting rooms, and shared spaces as needed.
- Assist with uploading content to virtual/event platforms (e.g., Swapcard, Vimeo).
- Distribute briefing documents to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with answering phones, welcoming visitors, and general office duties when required.
- Minimum three years' experience in the events industry.
- Proven experience managing projects across multiple technical disciplines (e.g., audio, video, lighting, LED, streaming).
- Strong and up-to-date knowledge of audiovisual equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as Vectorworks or SketchUp.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Confident communicating directly with clients via phone and email.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive, proactive, and solutions-focused attitude.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Full UK driving licence and use of a car.
- Supplier negotiation experience is advantageous but not essential.
